Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog Breed

Description: The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog , there wise known as the alpha Blue Blood Bulldog has a broad head and is well developed. The muzzle is covered by the loose upper lips and is short.

The eyes are set wide apart and are dark in colour or the preferred ‘glass eyes’ which are blue or marble eyes and this is a mix of brown and blue in the eye. They have drop down ears which are natural. The body is like an exaggerated bulldog, which is sturdy but muscular.

The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog tail is not docked and is long and thin. The hips are smaller than the chest. The back is as long as the dog is high. The height is 24 inches and the weight for the dog is up to 100 pounds and the bitches are around 78 pounds. The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog can be nearly twice as heavy as the bitches in this breed. The feet are cat-like and compacted with strong legs. The coat is short and colours we see are; brown merle or blue merle or red merle this is with white or white and brown. The coat is fairly course. The life expectancy is 12-15 years.

History: This is an American dog and its roots are in Georgia where, in the 1800’s, the Lane family wished to have back the plantation dog. This comes from three generations of an old breeding program. By this time the plantation dog was nearly extinct in Southern Georgia. Pa Pa Buck Lane was killed in 1943 by a train and his faithfull dog Otto kept constant vigil and guard duty over his grave.

His granddaughter carried on the breeding till her death in 2001. This Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog dog is rare and is nearly extinct with about 120-150 world wide. This dog is a creation from one American family, like the Plott hound. The origination of this dog is not clear but it seems to have English Bulldog and possibly the Mastiff, and its ancestors were cattle and pig herders. The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog has been created as a security and then companion dog. In 1986 this breed was recognized by the ARF. Sadly Ms. Lane died in 2001 at this time the kennels passed to her mother who has since sold them.

Temperament: This is a quick dog, to train, that is loyal and is obedient. Here is a wonderful watch dog and guarding dog. Their loyalty is so deep they will fight to the death defending the owner. The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog breed is good with children and will be protective of their young owners. Active and mindful this athletic dog needs an active pack leader, that is willing to train the dog consistently and set rules, for the dog to follow. This dog will require long walks daily and love to have a run in safe areas. Here is a cleaver dog that will do well at obedience training. Socializing this dog well, as a puppy, will help it be more excepting of people and other dogs. Training this dog to establish good leadership is a must. Positive rewards work well for this breed.

Health issues: The Alphaha Blue Blood Bulldog dog can have eye problems such as inflamed tear ducts and entropion. This dog comes from a small gene pool.

Grooming: The Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog has a short fur coat, on this dog, needs little grooming, and brushing once a week will be fine for this breed. Bath every few weeks to keep them clean.

Living conditions: With the right amount of daily exercise the Alaphaha Blue Blood Bulldog dog will do well in an apartment. They will need an average size garden.
